Gespräche mit den Filmemacher*innen und Protagonist*innen – Musik von Kiommars Musayyebi (Santur) und Andreas Heuser (Gitarre) – Moderation Dr. Sarah Sander (Medienwissenschaftlerin und Migrationsforscherin der Ruhr-Uni-Bochum)

Welche Rolle spielt Musik für Migrationsgeschichten und was haben Papiere mit Identität zu tun? In den Filmen geht es um Flucht und Freiheit, Gewalt und Solidarität. Sie zeigen politische Verfolgung und widerständige Praktiken und fragen nach den Un-/Möglichkeiten des Ankommens u.a. in Cafés in Bochum und der Nordstadtliga Dortmunds.
Die Musik schafft zwischen all den Welten einen ganz eigenen Transfer.

ab 21.30 bis 1 Uhr DIASPORA DISCO im domicil mit den Dj Ipek

DJ Ipek lädt zum Tanzen ein: mit einem Mix aus Disco, House und internationalen Sounds. Ihre Sets verbinden unterschiedliche musikalische Einflüsse. Euphorische Begegnungen und Grenzüberschreitungen auf der Tanzfläche sind garantiert – ganz ohne Passkontrolle und Integrationstest. Dabei genießt DJ İpek das Spiel mit musikalischen Klischees und begeistert zugleich mit unbekannten Insidern. Seit über 20 Jahren ist İpek İpekçioğlu Resident DJ bei Gayhane – QueerOriental Dancefloor im Club SO36 in Berlin.

– Discussions with the filmmakers and protagonists – Music by Kiommars Musayyebi (santur) and Andreas Heuser (baritone violin) – Moderated by Dr. Sarah Sander (media scholar and migration researcher at Ruhr University Bochum)

What role does music play in migration stories, and what do documents have to do with identity? The films deal with flight and freedom, violence and solidarity. They depict political persecution and acts of resistance, and explore the possibilities—and impossibilities—of settling in, including at cute cafés in Bochum and the Nordstadtliga in Dortmund.
The music creates a unique bridge between all these worlds.

9:30 p.m.–1 a.m. "Diaspora Disco" with DJ İpek

DJ İpek invites you to dance to a mix of disco, house, and international sounds. Her sets blend a variety of musical influences. Euphoric encounters and transgressions on the dance floor are guaranteed—without any passport checks or integration tests. DJ İpek enjoys playing with musical clichés while simultaneously thrilling the crowd with obscure gems. For over 20 years, İpek İpekçioğlu has been the resident DJ at Gayhane – QueerOriental Dancefloor at Club SO36 in Berlin.

Inspired by her bicultural upbringing, İpek has developed a style known as Eklektik BerlinIstan, which is characterized by a unique and hybrid sound mix: Psychedelic Turkish funk meets disco, Kurdish halay meets electro, Albanian pop meets twerk, and Anatolian folk songs meet deep house. Musician DJ İpek a.k.a. İpek İpekçioğlu is an internationally successful, multi-award-winning DJ, producer, curator, and queer activist based in Berlin and Istanbul.
